SCB AIMS FOR 2016
LOAN GROWTH OF 4%
Siam Commercial Bank Plc, the country’s third-largest lender by assets, expects 4-per-cent growth in loans this year, which should help boost revenue and profit to slightly higher than last year.
The forecast assumes the economy will grow 3 per cent this year, and loan demand is mainly driven by business, Arthid Nanthawithaya, chief executive officer, told reporters yesterday.
In the first half of the year, the bank’s net profit dipped 11 per cent on year to Bt23 billion, but its operating profit rose 2.3 per cent with loan growth of 1.5 per cent.
The bank would focus more on Chinese investors that are keen on Thailand.
It aims to provide one-year bridge loans of Bt5 billion to Chinese customers for buying land in three industrial estates in Thailand over three years.
The industrial parks belong to WHA Corp, Rojana Industrial Park and Amata Corp.
So far, the bank has provided loans of Bt15 billion to Chinese investors for doing business in Thailand, he said. – Reuters
