The ministry’s International Trade Promotion Department has also launched a hotline at 1169 for Thai exporters facing shipping problems related to the Hanjin case.
Hanjin Group has agreed to provide credit worth 4 trillion won (Bt127 billion) to its shipping subsidiary to deal with the crisis. Meanwhile the South Korean government has contacted many countries, including the United States, Canada, Singapore, Germany and the United Kingdom, to ask them not to seize assets from Hanjin Shipping.
Apiradi said Thai companies that had shipped goods on Hanjin vessels should not be affected severely, as many countries including Japan had allowed the Korean company’s ships to dock.
She added that Southeast Asian countries had indicated that they were prepared to help Hanjin ships navigate their waters and dock safely.
