TISI MAY BROADEN LIST OF COMPULSORY STANDARDS

TISI MAY BROADEN LIST OF COMPULSORY STANDARDS

The Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) is considering adding power banks and other electronic goods to its list of compulsory standards because of a rising number of explosions recorded in the past year.

Deputy secretary-general Benjamaporn Ekkachart said the TISI was considering including such products as power banks, juice extractors, mixers and food blenders to its list of compulsory standards from next year.
These products are widely used by general consumers, and when compared with the past, many brands have been found to be of inferior quality, some even exploding, with potential effects on people’s lives and assets.
Producers, importers and distributors of goods on the institute’s list are required to meet certain standards and show the TISI label on their products.
