Samsung to push smart-appliances with new products

SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS yesterday announced five smart-home appliance products for the region.

The firm will also release mySamsung – a mobile application that provides information, a reward system, education tools and after-sales services of Samsung appliances – to the Thai market in the second half of this year.
Yong Sung Jeon, president and chief executive of Samsung Electronics Southeast Asia and Oceania, said that the firm showcased its vision for new-generation technology at its 2017 Samsung Southeast Asia and Oceania Forum in Singapore.
The five smart home-appliance products are the new range of QLED TV sets, the family Hub 2.0 refrigerator, FlexWash, the Samsung wind-free air conditioner AR9500M and the POWERbot VR7000 vacuum cleaner that “seamlessly fits into lifestyles in the digital era in a personalised and intuitive way”.
The new range of QLED TVs are the Q7, Q8 and Q9. The company said the series added new metal material to nano-sized semiconductor quantum dots and delivered the perfect mix of light and colour with an accurate and precise picture that could be viewed from any angle or in any environment.
The family Hub 2.0 refrigerator comes with app integration and new app partners to help families stay connected, manage food, and access more entertainment on the refrigerator’s 21.5-inch LED touch-screen.
The FlexWash laundry system is a washer-dryer combination model that integrates two washers and a dryer in one appliance. It is designed to cut laundry time in half while providing care of clothes. It offers consumers flexibility to start the dry cycle without moving clothes, Samsung said.
Samsung said AR9500M was the world first wind-free wall-mounted air conditioner that came with a two-step closing mode – the fast-cooling mode and the wind-free-cooling mode – to maintain the desired cooling settings. The unit lets the home maintain a comfortable level of coolness without the unpleasant feeling of direct cold wind, the company said.
The company said the VR7000 cleaner had a slimmer design and enhanced features that ensured cleaner, hard-to-reach corners and enabled the unit to clean within 15 millimetres of the wall, while the auto shutter automatically drop down a barrier to help sweep up dust right at the edge.
Wanna Swuddigul, vice president and chief marketing officer of Thai Samsung Electronics, said that the firm would introduce the new QLED TVs and the POWERbot VR7000 cleaner to the Thai market in the second quarter.
Wanna said a further three new-home appliance products would be available in Thailand in the third quarter.
