True Corp today is expected to appoint a new chief executive officer, replacing Suphachai Cheavaranont, who has already moved to become CEO of Charoen Pokphand (CP) group.
The True board will meet today on the company’s new structure and to select the new CEO.
One of the heavyweight candidates for the top job at True is Adhiruth Thothaveesansuk, 53, currently chief operating officer.
CP is True’s parent. According to an internal CP announcement last month, Suphachai recently replaced his father Dhanin as CEO, while Supachai’s elder brother Soopakij, who was CP’s executive vice chairman, replaced Dhanin as CP chairman. Dhanin has been appointed the group senior chairman.
Suphachai once said he was strongly confident that his move to CP would not affect True’s operations as the True board had been aware of business group’s succession plan. True has restructured the company to with intense competition and to transform it into a fully digital company.
