Investors to get more protection under new Myanmar law
Nay Pyi Taw - An amendment to the Myanmar Companies Law is under way, and is currently in the hands of the Bill Committee, and will be discussion at the coming parliament, said Aung Naing Oo, secretary of Myanmar Investment Commission.
According to the Foreign Direct Investment Promotion Plan, the total foreign investment for this fiscal year is expected to hit US$ 6 billion.
The government carried out necessary policy reforms in order to create equal opportunities between local and foreign investors. The Myanmar Investment Law was passed in late October, and efforts are being made to release bylaws so that the law can take effect in 2017-2018 FY.
The lists of businesses and the investment promotion sector will be released by March. It is designed to help investors in the establishment of companies and give them more protection.
