Restrictions eased on cross-border logistics, transport

The Cabinet on Tuesday approved a new agreement on cross-border logistics and transportation which aims to boost trade and investment between Thailand and China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam, said Kobsak Pootrakool, vice minister of the PM’s Office.

Under an agreement, each country will issue 12-month licences for 500 logistic operators in the initial stage.
It is expected the licenses will result in businesses saving money and time as they will not need to ask for cross-border permission at designated checkpoints.
The new rules apply to commercial vehicles and containers which transport goods across the border.
