Air-con, electronics fairs tout Thailand’s lead in climate protection

The Commerce and Industry ministries will commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Montreal Protocol – an international agreement to protect global climate and the ozone layer – at the Bangkok Refrigeration, Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (Bangkok RHVAC) and Bangkok Electric and Electronics (Bangkok E&E) fairs in September.

The Commerce Ministry’s Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) and the Industry Ministry’s Department of Industrial Works are coordinating efforts on the event.
DITP director general Malee Choklumlerd said in a press release this week that Thailand is internationally recognised as a global production base for air-conditioning and refrigeration products.
“The Bangkok RHVAC and Bangkok E&E, organised by DITP in collaboration with the Federation of Thai Industries; Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Industry Club; Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications and Allied Industry Club; Thai Refrigeration Association; and Department of Industrial Works, are set to underline Thailand’s strength as globally trusted production hub of the two industries,” she said.
“Products from Thailand are well known for high quality, equipped with eco-friendly innovations and technologies that complied with global trends.
“Under the Montreal Protocol, Thailand has completely phased out ozone-depleting substances used in the production of air-conditioning and refrigeration units. Today we stand proud as the world and Asia’s leading producer that has successfully helped protect the ozone layer and reduce global warming.”
The Bangkok RHVAC and Bangkok E&E will take place from September 7-10 in Halls 98-100 of Bitec in Bang Na.
The trade fairs will feature insightful seminars, a leak-detecting test and a “World Ozone Day Roadshow” photo contest sponsored by education institutes across Thailand, plus exhibitions and performances by renowned musicians.
