The bank’s customers won 459 prizes, comprising 455 prizes for cardholders and four for card-accepting merchants, with a combined value of Bt4,972,000 out of a total of Bt5,750,000 on offer.
Amorn Suvachittanont, senior vice president and head of the retail payment and foreign exchange products management department, said that KBank was upholding its leadership in the debit card market of which it currently had a 40 per cent share.
As for card-accepting merchants, KBank has a market share of 37 per cent.
Amorn said that, thanks to the National e-Payment Programme, Thailand is approaching a cashless society in terms of consumer spending.
He said the debit card draw was an important part of promoting that initiative through public education.
Cardholders are encouraged to use their cards for spending as they have a chance to win a prize, while also learning to enjoy the convenience and safety of card use.
“Even though this Ministry of Finance programme has been in place for only two months, the number of debit card spending transactions has increased 30 per cent year-over-year,” Amorn said.
He added that KBank gave its debit-card customers benefits beyond the national lucky draw.
K-Debit Cardholders can get Bt50 cash back instantly if they send with their debit card at least once a week for three straight weeks by August 31 this year.
For each BtB1,000 spent on a single sales-slip purchase using their K-Debit Card by August 31, they will also be entitled to one entry in a draw for prizes including package tours to New.
The bank also has incentives for merchants who accept debit cards.
