Huawei grabs bigger slice of smartphone market

Huawei has vastly improved its first-half performance in Thailand, boosting its share of the smartphone market from 1.2 per cent to 10.7 per cent compared to the same period last year.
PWorldwide, smartphone shipments reached 73 million units in the first half of 2017, representing 20.6 per cent year-on-year growth.
Tossaporn Nisthanon, deputy country director of Huawei Consumer Business Group (Thailand), said: “Our first half performance reflects strong, constant growth.”
The growth in the first half of 2017 was attributed to the “unique strength” of the product, good distribution channels, and after-sales service.
