Cabinet nod for Bt1.7 billion to support flood victims

The Cabinet on Tuesday approved the allocation of Bt1.7 billion to help flood victims in the North and East of the country, with each affected family due to receive Bt3,000 in cash.
Everyone should get the money within a month, said Nathaporn Jatusripitak, adviser to the Prime Minister’s Office.
Some 561,520 farming families in 36 provinces in the northern and eastern regions have been affected by the recent severe flooding.
About 4.4 million rai (700,000 hectares) of farmland have been under water, following floods caused by tropical storms.
