Stronger growth next year, forecasts TMB Analytics

TMB Analytics forecasts Thailand’s gross domestic product, or GDP, growth at 3.8 per cent in the year 2018, and also revised up the country’s GDP growth this year from 3.3 per cent to be 3.5 per cent thanks to exports showing strong growth.

The company’s executive officer Naris Sthapoldecha said yesterday that its forecast exports in the year 2018 will grow by up to 4.8 per cent following recovery of the global economy. Investment from the both private and public sectors will rise in the year 2018, driving the country’s economic growth up by 3.8 per cent.
This will increase the country’s policy interest rate from 1.5 per cent to be 2 per cent in the year 2018, he said.
