Govt savings bonds worth Bt15bn on sale from Nov 27

Government savings bonds worth Bt15 billion will be available to the public from November 27, the Finance Ministry said on Monday.

The ministry will launch the first batch of savings bonds for the 2018 fiscal year, which began on October 1, with three- and seven-year maturities and coupon rates of 1.85 per cent and 2.45 per cent per annum, respectively, said Prapas Kong-Ied, director-general of the Public Debt Management Office.
The minimum investment per person is Bt1,000, with no maximum.
Retail – or individual – investors can subscribe for the scripless bonds at four major banks: Bangkok Bank, Krung Thai Bank, Kasikornbank and Siam Commercial Bank.
Those who are investing in government savings bonds for the first time have to register with those banks first, Prapas said.
The bonds will be available from November 27 to March 30 next year
