Upward trend continues for new business registrations

The number of newly registered businesses in November totalled 6,597, some 10 per cent higher than October’s 6,003 registrations, the Business Development Department reported on Tuesday.

Last month’s registrations had a combined capital of Bt68.46 billion, around 75 per cent higher than in the prior month, said the department’s director-general, Kulanee Issadisai.
The top three sectors for newly registered businesses during the month were property, construction and retail.
A total of 68,212 companies were registered during the first nine months – up 14 per cent from the same period last year – with capital of Bt372.7 billion, she said.
The department expects the full-year number of newly registered firms to hit 70,000, some 8 per cent more than the 2016 level, and that more than 75,000 businesses will be registered next year, Kulanee added.
