HASTE URGED ON DIGITAL SHIFT

Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak has asked that government agencies speed up the country’s shift to a digital economy.

He spoke at a meeting yesterday with officials from agencies including the finance, commerce, and digital economy and society ministries.
He said the government must step up efforts before the next election, promised for November.
These include the setting up of Internet connections for 24,000 villages nationwide, and a Bt5-billion investment to expand the country’s Internet gateway and submarine cable, Somkid said.
