GAS FIELDS DRAW INTEREST
At least three consortiums are expected to participate in auctions of the concessions for Erawan and Bongkot gas fields, according to a Department of Mineral Fuels (DMF) executive who expressed confidence their terms of reference will be launched in February as planned.
Veerasak Pungrassamee, DMF director-general, said the companies from the Middle East, India, China, Japan and Malaysia are expected to enter the bidding under the consortiums.
Chevron Corp operates the bErawan field and PTT Exploration and Production Plc operates Bongkot field under licenes set to expire in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
The DMF is setting TOR criteria and conditions that are expected to be finalised by over this month and the next. Bidding is expected to begin in March, Veerasak said.
An anonymous source from Ministry of Energy said that Total E & P Thailand are expected to join the bidding for the Bongkot fields concession.
