Thai-Lao firm opens to provide lab testing, environment services

LAO AND Thai investors have created a joint venture opening up a new firm in Vientiane to offer environmental laboratory services for all kinds of environmental samples.

The company also provides environmental studies and assessment.
The official opening of the LAO-UAE Laboratory and Environment Service Co Ltd took place Thursday at the company’s offices on Dongpalan Road in Dongpalantha village, Sisattanak district, Vientiane.
The company offers laboratory analysis services for a range of environmental samples such as soil; sediment; water including drinking water, surface water, ground water; sewage and effluents; and air including stack, ambient, and work place conditions.
These aim to ensure that the environmental quality indicators of the company’s clients’ projects comply with Lao and international guidelines and regulations.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Director of LAO-UAE Laboratory and Environment Service Co., Ltd., Mr Khouthana Salibouth, said the company has drawn upon the international experiences of its mother company, United Analyst and Engineering Consultant Co Ltd (UAE) of Thailand.
“We have received expertise and technical support from UAE in Thailand,” he told participants.
He added that an expert in the field from Vietnam was also involved in the development of his company’s laboratory.
Drawing upon more than 27 years of international experience of UAE, LAO-UAE offers monitoring and assessment services on the environmental health and social impacts (EIAs, EHIA, ESIA) of development and industrial projects in Laos.
LAO-UAE also offers training and coaching services in laboratory testing as well as environmental, health, and social studies and impact assessments.
“Training courses can be customised to suit the requirements of our clients,” LAO-UAE said in its brochure.
Khouthana called for support from the public in giving his company the opportunity to serve and participate in the protection of the environment in Laos.
In her address at the opening ceremony, Chief Executive Officer of UAE Suparatana Jotisakulratana said UAE has employed about 400 staff to provide services in Thailand and the lower Mekong countries – Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam.
She said the company has been providing services in Laos for more than 10 years, including for the Nam Theun II hydropower project.
UAE was established in 1990 by a group of specialists. Environmental scientists, biologists, and chemists originally focused on analytical laboratory services.
