The Cabinet yesterday approved a plan for the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (Egat) to buy power from private producers under its Bt7.25-billion power transmission system project.

Sansern Kaewkamnerd, government spokesman, said Egat will finance the Bt7.25 billion project through several sources of funding, including loans from commercial banks, local and foreign private financial institutions, the issuance of bonds locally and overseas and its own cash reserve.
