Huawei hails smartphone sales
Huawei rose to the second position in global smartphone market, according to the Q2/2018 report from IDC, having secured a market share of 15.4 per cent by selling 54.2 million handsets to surpass Apple.
Another report by Canalys confirmed Huawei’s global ranking, up 41 per cent year on year. This performance is partly due to a 7-million strong sell-in of its latest Huawei P20 Series.
The European Commission’s 2017 EU Industrial Research and Development Investment Scoreboard reportedly ranked Huawei at six among all the tech giants in terms of R&D investment. According to Huawei’s 2017 annual report, about 80,000 of its staff worked in R&D, taking 45 per cent of the total number of employees.
