Krabi aims to woo more tourists from Europe as visitor arrivals dwindle

The Tourism Council of Krabi and related parties are discussing a plan to woo tourists from six European markets after a sharp decline in visitors to the island amid the Covid-19 outbreak.

Council president Ekawit Pinyotamanotai said that among the six targeted countries are Albania, Montenegro, Romania, and Serbia.
According to him, tour agencies in those countries have said that most tourists there are not much worried about the virus, but actually concerned about the shortage of flights to Thailand from March.
He added that the hotel sector in Krabi has been hit by the impact from the outbreak.
Krabi has enforced stringent measures to tackle the spread of the virus, screening travellers at key locations including piers.
