Finance Minister Uttama Savanayana has reportedly given his stamp of approval to a seven-member committee tasked with selecting a new governor of the Bank of Thailand.

Among the committee members are former Industry Minister Atchaka Sibunruang, former central bank governor Chaiwat Wiboonsawat and former Finance Ministry permanent secretary Rangsan Sriworasat.
The five-year term of current BOT governor Veerathai Santiprabhob will end this September, after he took office on October 1, 2015.
Notable achievements during Veerathai’s tenure include his initiative to overhaul commercial banks’ service fees and his push for Thailand to become a "cashless society" via a range of different projects.
