MAMA sales decline amid border disruption and weaker domestic demand

Lower domestic consumption, Thailand-Cambodia border disruption and resistance to products from Thailand weighed on the company’s sales during the quarter.

  • Thai President Foods, the producer of MAMA noodles, saw its sales revenue decline by 3.63% in the second quarter of 2026 compared to the previous year.
  • Domestic sales contracted by 1.94% due to weaker consumer purchasing power after a government economic stimulus scheme ended.
  • Overseas sales dropped by 3.8% as a border closure and backlash against Thai products in Cambodia disrupted trade.

Thai President Foods Public Company Limited, the producer of instant noodle brand MAMA, reported its operating results for the second quarter of 2026.

Sales revenue stood at THB6.68417 billion, down 3.63% from the same period a year earlier, while net profit edged up 0.23% year on year to THB939.77 million.

Factors affecting the business included a 1.94% contraction in domestic sales revenue from instant noodles and instant foods as purchasing power and consumption declined after the Let's Go Halves Plus economic stimulus scheme ended in December 2025.

The border closure between Thailand and Cambodia also reduced sales in border areas.

The bakery segment declined by 2.14% amid industry competition, particularly the arrival of new competitors and product price reductions.

Overseas sales of instant noodles and semi-instant foods fell 3.8% because of Thailand-Cambodia border problems, which led to a backlash against products from Thailand, including instant noodles.

Despite lower sales in both domestic and overseas markets, the company has been closely monitoring the situation and preparing proactive measures to address these challenges.

These include adjusting its marketing strategy, expanding distribution channels and developing new products to meet consumer demand in a rapidly changing market.

For the first six months of 2026, sales revenue stood at THB13.06386 billion, down 6.6% year on year, while net profit fell 4.85% year on year to THB1.82593 billion.
