Swiss-headquartered market expansion provider DKSH Thailand has marked its 120th anniversary in the country by announcing a major expansion of its supply chain network, alongside investments in automated pharmaceutical logistics, solar power generation, and electric transport fleets.

Operating behind the scenes for more than 840 brand partners, the distribution giant currently serves over 135,000 retail and institutional touchpoints across Thailand.

As part of a long-term operational revamp, the firm is upgrading its healthcare fulfilment infrastructure and aiming for net-zero operations by 2050.

Speaking at a corporate briefing on Friday (November 6), Poranee D'Alelio, vice president of country finance and head of country leadership at DKSH Thailand, highlighted the strategic importance of the local market within the group’s global network.

"Thailand represents one of the largest global markets for DKSH," Poranee stated. "Supported by nearly 7,000 local specialists, our role as a market expansion partner spans the full value chain—from raw material sourcing and market analytics to field sales, warehousing, logistics, and post-sales service."

Four Pillars Driving Commercial Infrastructure

DKSH’s operations in Thailand are structured across four specialised business units, which support retail, healthcare, manufacturing, and industrial sectors:

Consumer Goods

Managing distribution across 120,000 retail outlets nationwide, this unit employs more than 2,000 field sales and marketing personnel.

It supplies products ranging from modern trade hypermarkets to traditional neighbourhood stores, while expanding business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) e-commerce fulfilment services for omnichannel retail models.

Healthcare

Under its "Healthcare for All" framework, the division manages cold-chain delivery systems for more than 35,000 healthcare products.

Serving over 40,000 hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies across 77 provinces, DKSH has introduced "A-Frame" automated picking technology and regional satellite distribution centres to accelerate deliveries of high-priority pharmaceuticals and surgical tools as Thailand moves toward a super-aged demographic.

Performance Materials

Serving over 1,500 local manufacturers, this division operates eight innovation centres in Thailand linked to DKSH’s global network.

The unit assists client companies in formulating low-sugar food items, sourcing pharmaceutical ingredients, and developing industrial coatings, while offering product prototypes and regulatory compliance documentation via its digital platform, DKSH Discover.

Technology

This division supplies advanced testing and analytical instrumentation to more than 900 food production facilities to maintain quality control, nutritional verification, and shelf-life monitoring.

It also supports medical research through genomic screening systems for rare genetic disorders, alongside providing machinery and services to the semiconductor, electronics, and vaccine development sectors.

Sustainable Logistics and Workplace Benchmarks

As part of its environmental strategy aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), DKSH aims to achieve net-zero carbon emissions across its internal operations by 2050.

Recent operational figures indicate a 3% reduction in net carbon emissions, a 10% decrease in overall energy consumption, and a nearly 14% increase in solar power generation across its Thai facilities.

To expand its renewable energy capacity, DKSH is installing a 625-kWp rooftop solar array at its SVDC distribution hub, alongside an ongoing rollout of electric vehicles (EVs) for its distribution fleet and 100% recyclable packaging for its healthcare unit.

On the corporate governance front, the company has scaled its workforce from six employees at its founding in 1906 to nearly 7,000 today.

Female leaders currently occupy 47% of executive management roles, contributing to the firm securing Great Place to Work® accreditation for three consecutive years, alongside accolades from the HR Asia Awards and the Employee Experience Awards.

Beyond internal operational goals, the firm has partnered with the Baan Dek Foundation, donating 16 million Baht in funding and essential supplies to improve educational and health access for children living in construction site communities.

Looking ahead, DKSH plans to expand solar capability across its regional hubs, increase fleet electrification, and automate cold-chain facilities to accommodate growing commercial demand in Southeast Asia.
