The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) signed an agreement in New York on September 24, 2026, to develop a framework for companies to list securities on both markets. The cooperation also covers the joint development of financial products and indices.
Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul witnessed the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MOU), which aims to strengthen connections between Thailand’s capital market and international funding opportunities.
SET sets out five areas of cooperation
Asadej Kongsiri, SET president and a member of its board of governors, said the MOU covers five areas:
1. Dual listings of securities on both exchanges
2. The development and cross-listing of exchange-traded funds (ETFs)
3. Market data and index products
4. The development of environmental, social and governance (ESG) products and services
5. Exchanges of information and expertise between the two markets
SET aims to expand funding options for Thai and foreign firms
Asadej said cooperation between the Thai and US exchanges would strengthen connections between businesses and investors, giving Thai listed companies more fundraising options and access to institutional investors and capital in leading global markets. The partnership would also offer international investors greater access to investment opportunities in Thailand.
For foreign companies investing in Thailand, Asadej said the agreement would expand fundraising options through the Thai exchange, in line with the BOI to IPO programme, which connects Board of Investment (BOI) promotion with initial public offerings (IPOs).
Asadej described the agreement as part of the SET’s effort to strengthen competitiveness and connect Thailand’s capital market with new opportunities, consistent with the exchange’s vision of being “The Trusted Gateway to Inclusive Opportunities”.
NYSE backs long-term growth of Thailand’s capital market
Will Goodwin, head of strategic operations and corporate affairs at the NYSE, expressed the US exchange’s commitment to working with the SET to support Thailand’s capital market.
“NYSE values its longstanding relationship with the Stock Exchange of Thailand, and this MOU marks another important step in strengthening cooperation between our two exchanges while creating new opportunities for issuers and investors,” Goodwin said.
“We look forward to working closely with the Stock Exchange of Thailand to support the long-term growth of Thailand’s capital market,” Goodwin added.
The SET and NYSE began cooperating on market regulation in 1992. The relationship has developed over more than three decades, gradually expanding to encompass the areas covered by the new agreement.
