Army receives 2,900 dengue vaccine doses for troops
The Medical Association of Thailand has donated 2,900 dengue vaccine doses for Army personnel serving in areas at high risk of outbreaks
The Royal Thai Army Medical Department has received 2,900 dengue vaccine doses for personnel serving in areas at high risk of outbreaks and those considered at risk of developing severe dengue.
The vaccines were donated by the Medical Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage at a ceremony at the Army Medical Department Headquarters on August 5, 2026.
Prof Dr Keerati Chareancholvanich, president of the Medical Association of Thailand, led the association’s delegation, while Lt Gen Kriengchai Prasongsukarn, chief of the Royal Thai Army Medical Department, presided over the ceremony.
The association provided the vaccines because some Army personnel face increased exposure while carrying out duties in areas where dengue outbreaks are considered a high risk.
The Army Medical Department noted that dengue can occur throughout the year.
Although the Army already allocates funding and maintains prevention and control measures, military working environments can make it difficult for personnel to avoid Aedes mosquitoes, which transmit the disease.
The donated vaccines will be distributed to Army personnel and officials in areas experiencing outbreaks, supporting existing public-health measures intended to reduce the risk of dengue among troops.
