Prayuth admits flood barriers cannot keep Bangkok dry

Army Commander-in-chief said Friday that flood barriers could not fend off floodwaters from entering the capital.

Prayuth said the barriers could only delay the incoming waters so that the authorities would have enough time to evacuate people from the areas expected to be flooded.
He said waters which came overland from the North were powerful and would eventually penetrate the barriers to inundate Bangkok.
But the Army and all other agencies were trying their best to push the water to the western and eastern sides of Bangkok.
