The annual Bt150,000 grants will be given to 928 applicants with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.00, who are from poor families – together with 464 applicants not from poor families who will pay their own expenses, the Education Ministry said.
Unlike in the two previous years, successful applicants will be given a threemonth course on language and cultural orientation. The five subjects are agriculture, industry, creativity, management and commerce, along with specific fields customised to certain applicants.
There will be 35 destination countries selected under the ODOS scheme. In addition to the previous 18, the 17 new destinations are in the Scandinavia, Africa and the Middle East.
Applicants taking up the grants must serve at government agencies not yet specified to repay the scholarship, while those paying their own way will be required to study in certain fields.
