French couple arrested for allegedly smuggling in two antique statues from Cambodia

Sa Kaew - A French couple were arrested here Monday after customs officials found two statues believed to be antiques smuggled from Cambodia.
Jose Galcera, 69, and his wife, Bezaudin Galcera, 60, were arrested at the Aranyaprathet border checkpoint while crossing from Poi Pet.
The authorities found a 14-inch Ganesha statue and a 16-inch four-faced Brahma statue.
The couple claimed that the statues were imitated ones, not antiques but they were taken into custody pending checking of the statues by the Fine Arts Department.
