The institute reported that the area had been eroded by water, though engineers have still not been able to find the leak, the institute’s ground engineering expert Suthisak Sornlam said. He urged the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand and the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority to inspect water pipes around the Lumpini MRT station for leaking. At a meeting with the two agencies and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration yesterday, the institute also proposed that the area be dug up to find the real cause of the subsidence.
