Russian tourist drowns in Chon Buri

A Russian tourist drowned Tuesday morning while diving off Rin Island (Koh Rin) in the eastern province of Chon Buri, according to local police.
The body of Dmitry Klimchenko, 41, was retrieved by a rescue team and transferred for autopsy after he drowned while diving with a group of tourists off Rin Island in Sattahip district, Pol Capt Theetat Darunchan of Sattahip police station said.
Investigators said that Klimchenko’s group chartered a boat in the seaside resort of Pattaya before heading to the island for sightseeing and diving. The Russian man went missing while diving and was later found dead.
Police say Klimchenko may have felt faint and drowned after drinking alcohol before diving in the sweltering hot weather.
