The coalition, opposition and senatorial whips attended the meeting plus representatives from the Election Commission.
The agreement is expected to break a deadlock in which the opposition has relied on the delaying tactics for two consecutive days block the vote on the contentious clause of the charter amendment bill.
Under the agreement, the government conceded to the opposition demand for the adoption of the senatorial electoral rules for the CDA elections.
In the original draft, the government wanted to apply the local elections law.
The whips agreed to tasked the EC in organising the CDA elections. The EC will be empowered to issue yellow cards for campaign violations committed before the voting day.
Any poll fraud detected after the vote will be ruled by the Supreme Court’s Elections Division.
