Fatal shooting prompts searches

Following Friday's student brawl on a No 131 Bangkok bus (Min Buri-Nong Chok) in which a bus driver was killed by a 'stray' bullet, Metropolitan Police Bureau chief Winai Thongsong yesterday said police would conduct locker searches to prevent such fights

Some 20 Kanchanapisek Technical College students onboard the bus got into an argument with a group from Kanchanapisek Vocation Training College Nong Chok. One of the latter group shot at the bus, but the bullet fatally struck driver Chakkapan Khotjan, 51.
Winai said police were checking security camera footage to identify the shooter. And they would join college teachers to search students’ lockers and search students before leaving colleges to prevent brawls. He said the measure had proven effective at Pathumwan Institute of Technology and Rajamangala University of Technology’s Uthen Thawai campus.
