Workers warned of duping risks

The Employment Department's Director-General Prawit Kiangpol yesterday announced a list of countries Thai workers were advised to avoid visiting on their own, because of the risk of being duped.

They include Libya, the US, Canada and Australia.

Prawit presided over a meeting on overseas workers’ fees and claims that job agencies were overcharging workers. He said his office suspended the licences of 35 job agencies that had overcharged Thai workers wishing to work in Israel.
