Reporters met a deputy PM’s secretary-general, then submitted an open letter to Yingluck Shinawatra.
About 10 education reporters went to Government House at 8:50am to submit an open letter to demand the prime minister review Suchart’s behaviour. They were led by Thitiwan Sawaisaenyakorn, chairwoman of the Education Reporters Club and a news editor at Thai Rath.
Thitiwan said Suchart always retracted his words and blamed the media after giving interviews that drew a negative public response. She said the reporters found it unacceptable for the minister to take no responsibility for what he’d said in interviews, even though they were taped.
But Thitiwan managed to meet the PM at 1pm and raised the issue with Yingluck directly.
After Yingluck promised to look into the issue.
