Brussels - Eurozone finance ministers approved the release of 43.7 billion euros (56.8 billion dollars) in bailout aid for Greece in several tranches starting in December, the president of their Eurogroup panel said early Tuesday.

"This is not just about money. This is the promise of a better future for the Greek people and for the euro area as a whole," Jean-Claude Juncker told journalists after more than 12 hours of talks in Brussels. "I admit ... that this has been a very difficult deal."   He noted "very significant efforts" made by all participants.

EU Economy Commissioner Olli Rehn called it "a real test of our credibility" for the euro zone. "It was a test that we could simply not afford to fail," he said.//DPA
