Court ruling on infrastructureproject bill sought

Seventy-seven lawmakers Thursday filed a request with the House Speaker seeking a Constitution Court ruling on whether the Public Private Partnerships bill violates the charter.

Appointed Senator Paiboon Nititawan submitted the names of 42 senators and 35 Democrat Party MPs to House Speaker Somsak Kiatsuranont. He said that if the Public Private Partnerships bill, which is awaiting royal approval, takes effect, it would be used by the government to facilitate the implementation of infrastructure projects under the Bt2trillion borrowing bill without them having to undergo legislative scrutiny.
