Police stop demonstrators from reaching border village in Si Sa Ket

Si Sa Ket - Police stopped a group of demonstrators from entering the border village of Phumsarol Wednesday afternoon for fear that they would clash with local villagers.

The demonstrators were led by Wisit Duangkaew. They gathered in Si Sa Ket downtown and were travelling on a six-wheel truck with a goal to raise a five-metre-tall Thai national flag pole on the disputed plot near Preah Vihear Temple across the border from Phumsarol village.
But police stopped them at the Bueng Malue police station checkpoint.
Local villagers of Phumsarol vowed that they would not allow demonstrators to pass through their village to reach the border.
