Magnitude 5.7 earthquake strikes Portugal's Azores Islands

Lisbon - A magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck off Portugal's Azores Islands on Tuesday, authorities said.
No injuries or major damage appeared to have been caused. The earthquake had its epicentre in the sea, at about 60 kilometres off Sao Miguel Island, the institute that monitors seismic activity, IPMA, said.
Several aftershocks of magnitudes ranging from 4.4 to 2.3 were recorded.
The islands in the Atlantic have near 250,000 residents.//DPA
