Ranong residents upset by Rohingya growth

Ranong - The leader of the People's Network of Ranong is demanding official action after the discovery of 20 Rohingya-established temples in the province, where illegal migrants are seeking to relocate into the country take refuge.

Sucheep Patthong said residents of Ranong are insisting on legal inspections of the temples, set up by Rohingya migrants who are increasing rapidly in number. Sucheep said a number of illegal workers were found living in the temples as they prepared to relocate to various parts of the country. Buddhist village migrants who utilize the temples to provide refuge for illegal workers also receive donations from residents of Myanmar, who make regular visits, he said.
There has been an increase in religious activities by Rohingya migrants, such as the construction of pagodas and Buddha images, and inspection of their finances should be carried out, said Sucheep.
