Thanks to the Car Theft Suppres-sion Centre's website at www.lostcar.go.th and 1192 hotline, police intercepted a car in three minutes after its theft was reported.
This success story was one of many presented at the media launch of the centre’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/lostcar.1192. The information on the recovered vehicle would be posted on the website for the owner to reclaim it.
Pol Gen Somyos Pumpan-moung, head of the centre, told the press conference that those providing tips leading to the return of a vehicle could pocket a Bt5,000 reward.
At the event, six victims credited police with helping them get their cars back within three days.
Arisara Soomthong, 33, who reported to the hotline that her Toyota Soluna was stolen on June 27, said her information and car photo were uploaded to the website, then a good citizen located it in three days.
“It’s like waking up from a nightmare… I got it back within three days,” she said.
