Kuala Lumpur - As many as 32 people were believed to have been killed Wednesday when a tourist bus plunged into a ravine near a Malaysian mountain resort on Wednesday, a police source said.
Seventeen survivors were rescued from the accident that occurrednear Genting Highlands Resort between Pahang and Selangor states,about 90 kilometres north of Kuala Lumpur, according to rescue workerAzizan Ismail.
A police source said the death toll could be as high as 32, but said he could only confirm 12 fatalities so far, eight males, four females.
A police investigator said the bus driver appeared to have lost control of the bus was negotiating a downward curve hit a road divider before falling into the 30-metre ravine.
