Civil suits will also be launched, BMA spokeswoman Tridao Apaiwong said.
The consensus at a city council meeting yesterday was to remove unlicensed banners and phone booths. Motorcycle taxi stations will also be rearranged.
Tridao said the transport office gave permission for over 8,000 ad banners. So, the BMA was now working on maps with district offices to check if ad banners are located as per the maps.
“The BMA also wants to lower the number of banners,” she said.
In regard to the 200,000 or so motorcycle taxis in Bangkok, there would be a discussion with the Transport Department over where they parked, she said, as many of these bikes were now parked on footpaths even though this was illegal and could draw a fine of up to Bt2,000.
