Minister's wife found to have more than she declared

The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has concluded that Natural Resources and Environment Minister Vichet Kasemthongsri's wife had failed to include information about her more than 5-per-cent stock holdings in private firms when declaring her as

A 2000 law requires ministers and their spouses to declare all their assets, otherwise the minister could be disqualified.

However, since the NACC does not have the authority to rule over Vichet’s qualification as minister, it has forwarded the case to the Election Commission for interpretation.

Meanwhile, NACC will need to seek documented evidence to rule on a similar case involving Deputy Public Health Minister Sorawong Thienthong.
