Samart proposes third reading of 291 amendment bill

Pheu Thai MP Samart Kaewmeechai Thursday suggested calling for a third reading to amend section 291 of the constitution after the charter amendment concerning the composition of the senatorial election was rejected by the Constitutional Court on Wednesday

Samart, who chaired the joint House-Senate panel that vetted the amendment bill on senators’ qualifications, also claimed that Pheu Thai Party was preparing to file charges against the Constitutional Court for malfeasance with the Supreme Court.
Section 291 concerns constitutional amendments and any amendments to this section would allows for the entire constitution to be amended.
