Environment activist in Rayong severely injured in suicide attempt

An environmental activist in Rayong was severely injured in what believed to be a suicide attempt Tuesday evening, police said.

Police said Sutthi Atchayasai, 48, who campaigned against pollution in the Map Ta Phut industrial zone, was rushed to the Rayong Hospital with a serious wound on his right temper and was in coma.
Police said Sutthi’s mother found him collapsing with the wound inside his pickup truck with a .38 revolver in his right hand at 6 pm.
Sutthi’s brother, Monthon Atchayasai, said his brother had complained that he was suffering from liquidity crunch.
