Martial law to stay: deputy Army spokeswoman

The National Council for Peace and Order will continue to enforce the martial law for the sake of law and order, Deputy Army Spokeswoman Col Sirichan Ngathong said Friday.

Sirichan, a spokeswoman of the NCPO, said the martial law did not affect daily life of Thais and the number of the foreign tourists was also rising.
She was responding to reporters’ question whether the NCPO would lift the martial law now that NCPO chief Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha has become the prime minister-elect.
“I hereby affirm that the martial law will not obstruct the country’s administration,” she added.
