Artist Thawan Duchanee dies

Renowned Thai artist Thawan Duchanee, died early on Wednesday from kidney failure. He was 74.

His son Doytibet announced the death on his Facebook page, adding his father had left behind a heritage of immortal work created from both his heart and soul.
It was reported that Thawan died following three months of treatment for kidney disease. 
His funeral will be held at Wat Thepsirinthawas until next Wednesday with the royally sponsored cremation ceremony taking place at 5pm Thursday.
Thawan who is one of the top Asian artists, was named a Thai National Artist in visual arts in 2001 and awarded the Fukuoka Asian Cultural Prize in the same year – earning him the title “a master of modern Asian art”.
His penchant for traditional Asian motifs and styles and his flamboyant personality made him popular throughout the world.
