Prayuth attacks media for reporting 'false information'

Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha Friday attacked unnamed media for allegedly publicising false information.

"Certain newspapers and news agencies have yet to improve themselves. There continues to be false information reported in the news," Prayuth said during his weekly TV programme, without mentioning names.

"Some of them have tried to justify their position by saying that they have done was patriotic and based on fairness, for democracy and other reasons. However if another confrontation were to happen again because of this misleading news reporting, we cannot reform the country. "

Prasyuth said some media have started "condemning and providing false information again, with some truths omitted, some issues exaggerated, and some news reported without scrutiny".

"Several legal cases have marred by irresponsible new reporting causing damage to the accused before the judicial process has been completed," the prime minister added.
