Former NIDA rector Sombat denies supporting PM's direct election

Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, former rector of the National Institute of Development Administration, Sunday denied that he plans to propose direct election of the prime minister to the National Reform Council.

Sombat reported to work as an NRC member at Parliament Sunday.
Sombat said the NIDA Poll has recently found that 77 per cent of respondents wanted to elect the prime minister directly but he disagreed with the idea because it would be problem in practice because the directly-elected prime minister might not receive support from political parties in the House of Representatives.
