Washington (dpa) - US President Barack Obama ask Congress to provide 6.2 billion dollars to fight Ebola in Africa, prevent its spread in the United States and develop vaccines and treatments.

The request includes 4.6 billion dollars for immediate needs and 1.5billion in contingency funds to respond to the evolving threat, he says in a letter to Congress.
Obama wants Congress to take action before the end of the year and comes as part of his agenda before a newly elected Republican-controlled Congress takes office next year.
